Miguel Alzerreka

The K&K Straight-Rail Vibraphone System has allowed me to add effects and shape the sound of my instrument just as I always dreamed, bringing these textures into genres such as rock, as well as electronic and experimental music. It has also freed me from all the challenges I used to face when amplifying my vibraphone in live settings with high volume and intensity.

Miguel Alzerreka is a vibraphonist and composer born in Mexico City. He began his musical journey in classical percussion, but his curiosity soon led him to explore other musical languages such as jazz, early music, and Cuban percussion. His keen ear and analytical nature have made him an eclectic and original artist.

Throughout his career, he has performed across a wide range of genres, including classical music, progressive rock, jazz, electronic music, afrobeat, funk, salsa, and pop. He is currently based in San Cristóbal de las Casas, where he teaches in the Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz and Popular Music program at the Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas (UNICACH).

As a musician, his approach has always been one of collaboration, experimentation, and building bridges between genres. He has been part of numerous projects, both as a leader and as a guest musician, sharing the stage with leading figures of Mexican jazz and international artists such as Aarón Flores, Iraida Noriega, Daniele Morelli, Todd Clouser, Cyro Baptista, Miguel “Chuck” Rodríguez, and Marc Berthoumieux.

His recent discography includes PLANETARVM, a powerful instrumental fusion of original compositions blending rock, jazz, and electronic elements; AGUA, a collection of spontaneous duets with Italian guitarist Daniele Morelli; and FATA MORGANA, a trio project featuring compositions by Aarón Flores alongside Japanese drummer Reona Sugimoto.
