I’ve tried most of the pickups on the market but the K&K Pure Pickup is my choice for my custom instruments with their massive ranges. It sounds closest to using a microphone, I’ve never heard a pickup system accomplish this. In fact, I use the Pure Mini when I’m in the recording studio, along with my usual mic setup.
I’ve played studio tracks to the Pure Mini for some of my collaborators, and they didn’t know that it wasn’t mics! In concert use, the Pure Mini provides total realism and clarity with no feedback issues. I no longer use mics on stage, only the Pure Pickup.

He developed and plays the 36-string Double Contraguitar, 30-string Contra-Alto guitar, 17-string Hybrid Extended Classical guitar, 15-string Extended Classical guitar, twelve-string guitar, six-string guitar, fretless guitar, 12-string extended baritone guitar, 6-string bass-baritone guitar, alto guitar, the 14-string Contraguitar, the 16-string Contraguitar, the 17-string Contraguitar, and 12-string soprano guitar. Kevin also plays mandolin, piano, and bass.
Kevin appears on over 50 albums: both in solo and with collaborators and 19 first-round voting for the Grammy Awards.
