PowerMix Trinity Standard
The PowerMix Trinity System is a triple-source pickup/pickup/mic combination with onboard or external preamp. It consists of:
- Our award-winning Pure pickup, a bridge plate pickup that provides a warm and natural tone.
- Our time-tested FanTaStick pickup, an undersaddle pickup that delivers unbeatable volume, balance, and clarity. Technical Information for the FanTaStick (Opens in pop-up window)
- The Trinity microphone, featuring an integrated 5" gooseneck (allowing it to be positioned in a number of ways, incuding outside the soundhole) and 20-20,000 Hz frequency range. Technical Information for the Trinity Microphone (Opens in pop-up window)
- The PowerMix 3-Channel Preamp, a dual-channel, onboard preamp with amazing mixing capability.
Take advantage of the natural woody tone quality of the Pure Pickup and add the power and definition of the FanTaStick for high volume situations or if you need your guitar to stand out against a back-up band.
What are the benefits of a pickup/pickup/mic system?
The Pure Pickup and the FanTaStick blend beautifully. More than the sum of their parts, the pickups create an impressive microphone-like tone quality with definition and power that is unprecedented in today's guitar pickup market. Adding in the Trinity Microphone (available in the PowerMix Trinity) opens the sound up even more and truly gives you the best of all worlds of amplified acoustic sound.
Our FanTaStick is one of the finest undersaddle pickups available today. Many players choose this pickup for their guitar because they find that it sounds warmer than any other undersaddle pickup on the market. It also provides standard undersaddle features, like high gain-before-feedback, lots of clarity, and high definition.
The FanTaStick's piezo crystals are specially selected for their acoustic signal strength and handcrafted to enhance this quality. Unlike other undersaddle transducers, the FanTaStick is oriented towards the guitar-top and not towards the strings. This creates a warmer tone. We also use wider crystals for a more forgiving pickup alignment.
Brandon St. James uses the FanTaStick and tells us, "I used this pickup in the recording of my new CD. Even though $2,000 mics were available in the studio, the engineers and myself honestly felt that we couldn't improve on the sound achieved from going direct to the board from the pickup. If I hadn't been there and experienced it for myself, I never would have believed it. I just know that it sounds fantastic in recording and in live sound systems. I've received endless compliments on the quality of the sound from other guitarists in my audience."
How does the PowerMix Preamp work? How is it installed?
The PowerMix Preamp allows for precise sound adjustment of each transducer. It features gain, bass, mid, treble and volume controls for each individual channel and uses low-power consumption parts so that the battery life is up to 120 hours. The output jack is a high quality Switchcraft endpinjack, wired so both channels are mixed together for MONO use with a standard mono guitar cord.
The preamp can easily be installed deeper inside the guitar as shown in the photo above. The removable attachment system will not damage your guitar's label. For initial adjustment, we recommend a sound-hole placement of the preamp as in the photo. After you are finished adjusting your personal sound, you can choose to position the preamp deeper inside the guitar. The double volume control element (highlighted in the photo above) is designed for internal sound-hole edge mount.
All parts of the system can be installed non-destructively without hole drilling other than the endpin hole. The components are meticulously phase aligned.
Two PowerMix Trinity models are available:
- PowerMix Trinity Classic (for nylon-string guitars)
- PowerMix Trinity Western (for steel-string guitars)
The PowerMix Trinity Western now comes standard with the Mini pickups. The 1/2" diameter Mini pickups will fit ANY steel string acoustic guitar. Direct installation with superglue is required for optimum performance but the system is still removable without damaging the guitar (you may damage the pickup though). Installing the pickups is a breeze with the included mounting jig, detailed instructions, and superglue.
