FanTaStick ClassicThis transducer was developed to transfer a maximum of corpus sound elements inside the bridge. The real guitar sound with all its natural frequencies is being recorded directly at the sound source.
To meet these requirements, the K&K engineers created the "super-light" construction principle. Only ultra-thin material mantles the piezo-crystals and ensures the unrestrained spreading of the corpus wood vibrations to the crystals.
An electronic post-processing to improve the sound is not required anymore, as opposed to other bridge pickups.
In the FanTaStick Classic pickup, we use selected piezo-crystals which specifically agree with the mellow sound of the nylon strings.
Our patented "super-light" construction and the selected piezo material for nylon strings are the main differences to other bridge pickup transducers.
During the development we discovered that when tested on different classic guitars, the high E-string always transmitted more finger-picking noise than the other strings. The solution was to complete the FanTaStick Classic by fitting a special piezo crystal for the high E-string into it. This single crystal records less bass frequencies than the other ones. Now the finger picking impact of all 6 strings is transduced equally. To balance the volumes of each string, we measure each crystal separately with in a nano-inch range. Only six crystals of exactly the same height are combined to one FanTaStick. Furthermore, each crystal is fit in according to a defined direction of polarization.
Even playing in "open tunings" is possible, because the FanTaStick already functions with low string pressure.
The FanTaStick can be directly connected to an amplifier or mixer. However, for optimum adaptation of impedance of this extremely high-ohmic pickup to standard line or amplifier inputs, we recommend the use of the K&K preamps.
