Abbey Sholzberg
October 2006
Abbey studied music at Montreal's McGill University from '72 - '75. He then moved to Toronto, where he has been a session player and frequent free-lancer ever since. In 2000, Abbey helped form The Club Django Sextet of Toronto and played on Canadian Collectors Congress Award winning CD "A Tribute to the Quintet of the Hot Club de France." The CD was nominated for a National Jazz Award and got frequent air play on CBC, Jazz FM and every jazz station in Canada.
Abbey uses the K&K Bass Max: "Over the past 35 years I've tried many pickups...this one captures the most natural string bass tone. Easy assembly...it fit right into the slot in my bridge. (I was probably a bit lucky but no adjustment was necessary, eh?) I was particularly impressed with the wire from the pick up to the jack. It feels like a very sturdy connection. "
