Boyan Hristov was born in Sofia, Bulgaria and started playing the guitar at 12. He has been playing and recording professionaly since he was 18.

He graduated with honors from New Bulgarian University (Performance major)and soon after was granted a scholarship from prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

In his first year he won the Emergenza "Acoustic Hero" contest in Boston. He was the only international and all instrumental act on the national finals of the contest.

He is now playing as a solo act, a guest musician for numerous artists or with the bands "Tin Can Tele" and "Third Rail" in Boston. Boyan is the leader of the ambient/world/experimental trio "Nav, Keita & Boyan". He has a blues duet with harmonica player Fred Bement.

"My instrumental music is absolutely organic because it's improvised right at the time of the recording" says Boyan, "I play anything from blues, rock, pop, funk, disco, electronica(!), latin, world and so on. The challenge for my acoustic playing is to make music that is interesting in a musical way and make it right on the spot. That is a good skill and takes alot of practice. You have to be proficient in many styles, have to know the language of music and manipulate it well."
