K&K's Artist of the Month: John Batdorf

"I have survived many careers in one lifetime. Starting with the 70's as a recording artist with Batdorf and Rodney and Silver. I spent the 80's as a staff songwriter and studio singer singing on hundreds of jingles, movies, records, TV shows and four main titles including, 'Doctor, Doctor', 'Tom and Jerry Kids', 'Garfield and Friends' and 'Promised Land'. Then came the 90's I started producing records and commercials. During that time I met and went on to write some great songs with my friend, Michael McLean. We have recorded 4 CDs together. In 1996 I got my first chance to score a CBS TV prime time show, 'Promised Land'. I composed all the music underscore for three years until the show came to an end. I went on to compose music for another CBS drama, 'Touched By An Angel' which unfortunately after nine seasons is no longer in production. TBAA still appears twice daily on the Hallmark TV network. This year I also composed the entire musical score for a 2 hour made for PAX TV movie called 'Book of Days' which appeared January and March of 2003. 'The Best Two Years' had a successful theatrical run in 2004 and is now available on DVD as well as the soundtrack on CD. In late 2004 'All Wood And Stones' was released and is creating quite a buzz! I will be supporting the CD with performances in 2005 with James Lee Stanley and I hope to have a solo CD written and recorded by late summer.
"I did my first house concert in February 2004 in Malibu and it was fantastic. I played for over an hour and a half and sang most of my Batdorf and Rodney songs as well as some new material. The family that hosted the show were some of the most friendly people I have ever met. The audience was as receptive as any of the great audiences I have ever performed for. Just me and my guitar and 85 people sitting in a living room , it was like a dream. Hope to do more in the future!"
John uses K&K's Trinity System: "Everyone loves the way my guitars sound and it kicks the you know what out of [other] pickups."
